The blooming of Sakura has always been celebrated and enjoyed by Japanese since centuries ago. Up till today, this tradition (a.k.a Hanami) continues. To me, the blooming of Sakura symbolises life, beauty and joy after a difficult winter period.
So, here's my handmade Hanami, at about 2.5cm long. It is another elegant and unique earring, featuring fresh water pearls, czech glass flower, lucite flower, rhodium plated ear hooks etc.

Recently, I've experimenting with a different style. Instead of the usual sophisticated floral style, I've played with different wiring techniques to create simple and yet unique earrings. Such a style is especially suitable for work when you need people to take you seriously and not be "distracted" by floral style earrings that may be too over the top for work.
So, here's the first - Rain. At about 3.5cm long, Rain is handmade with swarovski crystals of different blue and green shades, rhodium plated ear hooks etc. This earring reflects my desire for more rainy and cooler days ahead and more importantly, my hope for God's blessing to come upon our land in the midst of all the uncertainty and fear.

Though I have been busy liaising with my web designer over my blog makeover, I managed to engage in a little random and relaxing internet surfing. On a particular day, I happen to read about the global phenomenon of silicone bracelets, a bracelet made of silicon/rubber in different colours that one wears to support different causes, social as well as non-social ones. Many non-profit organisations around the world have been using custom silicon wristband to raise awareness and funds for their causes. Pink silicon wristband for breast cancer; green for kidney donation; blue for diabetes; orange for multiple sclerosis and of course; the famous yellow LIVESTRONG wristband for cancer fund raising.
These rubber wristbands are so successful in promoting social and non-social causes that they have even become fashion statements. So, it gives me an idea. How about promoting a BUY HANDMADE cause using such custom silicon bracelets? I would choose purple (for obvious reason) as the official colour :)

Today, I came across another blog shop selling almost similar jewelry, using similar colour themes and similar birdie mother of pearl charm. Ever since I started using my animal mother of pearl charms in my earrings and rings, I see other blog shops following suit. Should I feel flattered since I'm leading a trend, or shall I feel violated cos again, it's that sickening feeling of seeing your hard work being copied and not be acknowledged for it. Perhaps, I should just ignore them and focus on bringing new stuff here. Innovation is perhaps the key to my frustration. Well, I'll try my best. Mummy has been so busy teaching me to read. She started teaching me when I was only 4 months old. Now, look at all the chinese words I can already read, all by myself . Everyday, I look forward to mummy teaching me new Chinese & English words. Once I learn the words, I can easily read my books. It's just so fun to read story books, don't you think so?

With 2008 coming to an end, it is a joy to see my girl growing up so fast and learning so much that I could not believe that 1 or 2 years back, she was just a little baby who could only babble single words. Today, she has become a lovely, chatty little girl who loves to call her “Gong Gong” almost every day. I mean, she has memorized his mobile phone number and would just call him whenever she misses him. She also loves calling me and her daddy when we are apart just to say “I love you” and “I miss you”.
So, imagine how thrilled I was when I discover that M1 has launched a phone and a service specially for kids called KidSAFE. This service would allow me to give my little girl her own phone, while controlling the calls she makes from it. So, I need not worry about strangers calling her or her calling people I don’t know.
Better still, I don’t have to worry about her chalking up hefty phone bills cos the phone doesn’t allow Internet access – which also means NO access to all that non-kid friendly internet stuff like porn.
The features on the phone are quite special. I can set a list of numbers that she can call and SMS and vice versa. If it’s a number not on that list, she cannot use the phone to talk or SMS. And I would be able to see if she tried to call any numbers outside the list.
KidSAFE has to be the safest mobile phone service in the world for children!

If you buy the phone now, it’s $0 with a SunShare or DIY talk plan. If you get the Sunshare plan, the KidSAFE service comes free for a year! But if you decide to get the DIY plan (which you have to if you are not an M1 subscriber), then it is only a mere $3 – cheap lah if you are concerned about your kid’s safety!
