My 1st Mother's Day Gift-2008

Sunday, May 11, 2008

My soon to be 3 years old daughter came back from her nursery last Friday & surprised me with a loud "Happy Mother's Day",her hand holding my first gift for Mother's Day. I almost cried. I'm sure this won't be the only gift I'll receive but for the moment, this first gift is the one I'll cherish and remember the most...I'm sure all mothers out there would understand why...

BTW, do check this video clip about being the MOM at YouTube here It's simply hilarious!

Have a blessed Mother's Day!

Check out Scrapadoo

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Scrapbooking has garnered newfound support amongst Singaporeans recently in that Singaporeans are starting to prefer handmade cards & photo albums to buying them off the rack. I could only say that I have not seen many beautiful sites offering handmade cards, albums etc for sale around in Singapore, except for Scrapadoo.

Scrapadoo is owned by my friend, Renee who takes great effort to create beautiful unique cards and albums for sale. So, if you are getting some blings here for a friend or a loved one, why not pop over to Scrapadoo to get a personalised card for him/her as well. I'm sure your friend would appreciate such thoughtful gestures from you. :)

Just moments before the announcements of the results, our PM must be wondering, " Aiya! Why is the sky so dark? Please don't rain har!".....Hehehe, just kidding. He's probably praying and thinking, "Will Singapore get to host the Youth Olympics 2010? Die Die oso must win the bid lah! "

And finally, the result is out. Singapore won the bid to host the Youth Olympics in 2010...Yeah!!! :)

Check out the dance performance put up by different schools. I think it was JJC in the left photo leading the crowd in a Cheer but I can't remember where the gals in the right photo were from.

Grace Reign

Tuesday, February 05, 2008

Tonight has been a challenging night. My spirit is low and I feel I need to be lifted up. Perhaps, it is because my daughter has not been sleeping well for a few weeks already. She seems to wake in the middle of night crying for no obvious reasons and sometimes, it takes a while to calm her down. We have been praying every night for her before her sleep and hope that soon, normal life will resume. Perhaps, I am just feeling tired and when I am physically tired, I could not feel very happy.

When times like this happen, I like to visit Grace Reign blog, a blog which provides a lot of Godly encouragement and wisdom. Paula, the writer of the blog, speaks a lot of hope and encouragement into me through her reflection of her walk with God. I really feel that many times, God speaks to me through her reflection and writing. It is real blessing for me to find her blog.

Are you also feeling lousy or sad or discouraged? Perhaps, you too can be lifted up in your spirit through reading Grace Reign blog and coming to know our good Lord Jesus. :)

Have a good night rest, my friends.

Beads of Lav is IN Straits Times!

Monday, January 28, 2008

It's indeed a pleasant surprise, to receive news that Straits Times's mini- interview with Beads of Lav Accessories is out today in a supplementary magazine called IN magazine.

If you are a student, a teacher or a employee in a secondary school, you should have seen this article in the magazine that comes with the main Straits Times paper. It's a pity that the rest of us (i.e. those not in secondary schools) do not receive it with the main paper. However, I am still grateful and happy to the staff of Straits Times for featuring my blogshop in its inaugural IN magazine.

Life at Home - Again!

Thursday, January 17, 2008

It is almost 2 weeks into year 2008 and I am thankful to God for giving me the opportunity and ability to once again stay at home FULL-TIME (yeah!) to look after my 'baby' who has since grown up to be a lovely and at times, mischievous little girl.

After being overworked last year -looking after my little one, working part-time and managing this website - I can only say that this should be a great year of rest for me. With slightly more time at hand, I hope to:

1) kill more brain cells coming up with lovely jewellery for all my loyal and supporting customers

2) blog more about my little girl and my life here

Hopefully, I need not use the mailing list system too often (or at all) with constant updating on this site. All you need to do is just visit my site daily. Hehehe

I'm on Brigitte Bardot !

Saturday, October 06, 2007

Hehe..this is getting fun. Guess some of you would probably think that I'm either very stressed or bored with what I'm doing. Eh...I'm not too sure if this result is that accurate but it's nice to know I'm a Brigitte Bardot! Haha. I think I better stop & go back to work. Have a wonderful sunday tmrw :)

You are Brigitte Bardot

Naurally sensual and beautiful
You're an exotic beauty who turns heads everywhere
You've got a look that's one of a kind

Just for fun

I'm rushing some deadlines due on next Tusday, so I'm working very hard this weekend to complete my work. After that, I should have time to create new blings. Thanks for being patient with moi.

So, here's something interesting I found on the net & if you are stressed like me or bored, have a go at it. It's pretty accurate lor. :)

You Are a Ring Finger

You are romantic, expressive, and hopeful. You see the best in everything.
You are very artistic, and you see the world as your canvas. You are also drawn to the written word.
Inventive and unique, you are often away in your own inner world.

You get along well with: The Pinky

Stay away from: The Index Finger

How has everyone been?

Saturday, August 04, 2007

Hello my friends,

I've been rather busy as I have returned to my day work on a part-time basis. Plus, being a mum to a young baby, there's just not enough time for myself. However, I will still try to steal time to continue this passion of bling creation. In fact, my hands are itching to pick up my jewellery making tools and all the beautiful shimmering beads and gems are calling out to me...... arggghhhhh....

However, I'm going to use next week's holiday to work on something beautiful. So, if you are still not on my mailing list, do join it so that you can receive the first hand notifications of beautiful blings, hot from the oven!

Till then, work hard, play hard & pray hard. :)

Cheers!

One more song from the same show by Cyndi Wang. Very lovely too....Guess, I just want to listen to these 3 songs as often as I can by posting them on my blog. There's another very touching song by Ah Zhe in the show, but I can't seem to find it. If you are also a fan of this show, pls let me where I can find the song sung by Ah Zhe in the show. Thanks!

Thanks for the Support !

Dear friends,

Thanks for making your way down to my little humble stall today. I'm really delighted to meet some of you in person, especially my loyal "fans" who bought a few items at a go. You made my day by giving my treasured blings blings a new home. :)

I'm also equally happy to see some friends, like Angela, who dropped by to chat with me. Of course, I'm especially thankful to my hubby who has been really accommodating towards me during this period of time, when I'm a little cranky due to the tiredness and stress of having to multi-task and wear different hats at home. I also had a great time, catching up with my friends, Mark and Renee who makes beautiful cards. You must check out her blog here again at Scrapadoo.

Over the next few days, I'll be uploading some photos of my bling goodies for sale. I may want to remake some of the sold items too if I still have the beads and charms. So, do expect lotsa of pretty earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Do check back regularly, k? :)

Fireworks, not for sale
Originally uploaded by Beads of Lav.

This simple and vibrant earring, made with kamoe clay beads, czech crystals of pink and turquoise, is a birthday gift for my sister-in-law. Doesn't it remind you of the multi-coloured, breathtaking fireworks in the sky? Hope she enjoys wearing them :)

How great is our God - Chris Tomlin

Sunday, February 18, 2007

This is one of my favourite christian worship songs. It is especially meaningful as it reminds me of how God healed my baby and brought her to this world, healthy and normal. May God also bless you with wonderful miracles in this new year. Happy Chinese New Year!

Christmas is all about you

Sunday, December 24, 2006

Christmas is all about you. Without you, Christ would not have been born. God sent His son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for you, so that through Him, you can have eternal life with God. Have a blessed Christmas!

Sunshine after the rain

I can't believe it. Now, I'm accused of copying a particular site's designs.. Duh? The funny thing is that I was earlier informed by Rach that this particular site has designs similar to mine. I have looked through the site but decided not to pursue this matter since there are no exact copies. Also, I believe my discerning customers could decide for themselves if there's any copying involved since I have dated my entries. You can see for yourself which designs appear first. Also, I want to give the other site the benefit of doubt and be very nice cos it is possible to have somewhat similar designs given the limited types of beads and charms available in the market. However, it still hurts a little to have the table turned against u. Ouch...

Anyway, a pleasant surprise in my mail box today has brightened me up. I received a lovely box of lavender products from a thoughtful customer. I love it. Thanks, Yung.

Isn't this lovely? :) Lavender - My favourite colour, my favourite flower, my favourite scent.
